⭐ Today’s Topic  How We Burn Calories

“Calories IN” is simple – it’s everything we eat & drink ??

“Calories OUT” is a little more tricky – as our body burns calories in different ways ?

The total calories we burn each day is called our “totally daily calorie expenditure” – or TDEE ?

Our TDEE has three components …

1️⃣  THERMIC EFFECT OF FEEDING (TEF) ?️
Refers to calories burned during the processing of food & drink – e.g. ingestion digestion, absorption & storage

2️⃣  RESTING METABOLIC RATE (RMR) ??‍♂️
Refers to calories burned at rest, such as breathing or repairing muscle. It’s basically the cost of keeping the lights on!

3️⃣  PHYSICAL ACTIVITY ?‍♀️
Refers to calories burned via movement. Movement can either be planned – such as a gym session – or non-planned – such as fidgeting

For fat loss to occur, our calorie expenditure MUST be greater than our calorie intake ?

This is called being in a calorie deficit ⚖️

Stay awesome & keep going! ✌️
